Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to The People’s Picture’s websites: thepeoplespicture.com and myphotos.thepeoplespicture.com.
The People’s Picture (Helen Marshall Limited) wants as many people as possible to be able to use our website and to enjoy and take part in our projects. This statement applies to thepeoplespicture.com and to our contributor submission system at myphotos.thepeoplespicture.com.
1. What we are aiming for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and to meet our duties under the Equality Act 2010 in the UK and the Americans with Disabilities Act where it applies.
2. What we do
- use clear headings, plain language and readable text sizes and contrast;
- provide text alternatives for meaningful images;
- make pages usable by keyboard and with common screen readers;
- let you zoom text and use the site on different screen sizes and devices;
- ensure forms have clear labels and error messages;
- review our site when we make significant changes.
3. Known limitations
- Interactive zoomable artworks. Our mosaics are very high-resolution images displayed in an interactive viewer provided by a third party. Pan-and-zoom viewers can be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader, and the image detail is visual by nature. We provide descriptions of artworks where we can and will describe any artwork on request.
- Photos and mosaics. Photos submitted by contributors may not have descriptive text. The mosaics contain thousands of images and cannot be described individually.
- Video and PDFs. Some older videos may not have captions or transcripts, and some PDF documents may not be fully accessible. Contact us for an accessible alternative.
- Third-party content. Embedded social media, video players and other third-party content are outside our direct control.
- Our own testing. We test the site ourselves and review it regularly, and we fix problems as we find them.
4. Alternative formats
If you need information from this website in a different format, such as large print, an easy-read version, an audio recording, or a described version of an artwork, email support@thepeoplespicture.com and tell us what you need and what the problem is. We will aim to reply within 5 working days and to provide the format within 15 working days, or tell you if we need longer.
5. Taking part in projects
If you need adjustments to take part in a project (for example a different way to submit a photo, help with the submission form, or access information for an event or installation), tell us or the Commissioner running the project and we will work with you to find a reasonable solution. We also ask Commissioners to consider accessibility when they choose venues, events and promotion.
6. Reporting a problem or complaining
If you find an accessibility problem on our website or are not happy with our response, email support@thepeoplespicture.com. We take every report seriously and use it to improve. You can also make a complaint under our Complaints Policy. If you are not satisfied with our response in the UK, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
7. Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared in October 2026 and is reviewed at least once a year and whenever we make major changes to the website.
Thank you for visiting the Website.
