Beryl Fitchett. Joined the National Fire Service in 1942 as a pump operator. Seconded as a Motorcycle Despatch Rider and riding a 500cc Vincent , her duties involved a 48 hour tour of duty, ferrying messages and firefighters between stations and guiding incoming crews to fires in the area.
