“I found this photograph among family items in October 2015. I do not recall anyone speaking about the tragic loss of my late grandfather’s cousin during the Great War. I have discovered that Lce. Cpl. Charles Englefield Hatter’s name is on the Loos Memorial where he died on 13 October 1915. Over 400 men of the 6th Battalion Buffs were lost in the time taken to move about 100 yards.”
